Thank You!

Regardless of the situation or the severity, illness is never isolated. GBS especially, demands that everyone with whom you come into contact with give of themselves physically and emotionally.

I can not reflect on the first 16 weeks of my journey with GBS without highlighting the hospital staff. I had the privilege of meeting some of the most caring, dedicated and genuine human beings.

Tyler Perry spoke of the points of light in his life (https://youtu.be/rIblCMm1PQ8) and I thought of the doctors who fought for me when my body was failing, nurses who befriended, prayed with and offered me words of encouragement and hope, auxiliary staff who took the time to chat with me, strong men who made lifting me seem effortless and custodians who cared enough to ask how I was feeling today. I was told that I had a wonderful spirit and a positive attitude but I was feeding off of their energy.

To my points of light, you passed through my life for a period but will impact it for an eternity…my sincerest appreciation and well wishes!

About Dawn Drayton-GBS

In February, 2016 I was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). To mark my one year anniversary I have launched this blog. I am hopeful that by sharing my journey I can not only motivate myself and others but also raise awareness of GBS and it's devastating effects on your physical, emotional and mental health.
